Recycle and Reuse

To minimise the amount of waste put into the landfill, we ensure recyclability of components and organise "Re-use" channels for products.

Successful recycle/reuse efforts require:

using significant recycled content
ensuring that recycled content is toxin-free.

To simplify recycling:

we minimize co-mingled components
we consider the number and type of fasteners
we are committed to making disassembly quick and easy with common hand tools
adhesives are eliminated if possible
plastic parts weighing more than 50g are marked for the proper recycling stream

Steelcase and its dealers help customers – on a case-by-case basis – to evaluate, select and find an environmentally responsible method of managing their product at the end of their use. Together with our dealers and national network of recyclers, resellers and non-profit agencies, we provide alternatives to sending unused furniture into landfills:

Recycling, thus minimising the amount of waste put into a landfill
Sale or donation to other businesses or organisations
Refurbishing furniture for re-use by the original owner or a new customer
