Certifications

Our products and materials are submitted for approval by international certification schemes, including, NF Environnement, Blauer Engel, Cradle-to-Cradle, PEFC, E1, Oeko Tex and the European Flower.

Environmental product declaration

Since 2003, we communicate openly about the environmental performance of our products via 2 tools:

the Environmental product declaration (EPD) based on Life Cycle Assessment validated by independent third party assessors.
the Product Environmental Profile (PEP).

Their purpose is to communicate clear and transparent information about a product's impacts on the environment at all stage of its life-cycle. They contain information about:

the list of materials
materials' origin
certifications
percentage of recycled content
plants' certifications and manufacturing processes
packaging and products' recyclability.

Product certifications

NF Environnement
79% of Steelcase products manufactured in France comply with the NF Environnement. This French eco-label certifies that the product has a low impact on the environment.

Blauer Engel
64% Steelcase products manufactured in Germany comply with the German environmental certification Blauer Engel which promotes environmental and consumer protection.

Cradle-to-Cradle
In North America, 47 Steelcase products comply with the C2C certification, covering 5 areas (safe and healthy materials, material reutilization, use of renewable energy, efficient use of water, strategies for social responsibility).

Indoor Advantage
The seating portfolio (task, visitor and lounge) is certified with the Indoor Advantage Gold certification. This is a high level certificate for Indoor Air Quality, helping companies create more healthy indoor environments.
